Diet & Nutrition
Here at Wiseman Family Practice we believe it is important to be at the forefront of diet and nutrition to fight and prevent disease. We believe that many pharmaceutical medications can be replaced with safer nutraceutical options. We also believe that the increasing amount of toxins in our food, water, and environment are the root cause of many of the disease processes we are seeing today. To address this, we focus on prevention and when necessary use effective, safer, and more natural therapies that address the core of the problem, which are an alternative to many of the toxic pharmaceutical options given by traditional medicine today. Our goal is simple – identify the root cause of the problem, eliminate it, and allow the body to naturally heal. In many cases we augment this healing process through various supplements, herbs, and nutraceuticals that are effective and natural.
Dietary Counseling
With an increasing number of disease processes being caused by being overweight, we believe that proper nutritional and dietary counseling is paramount to maintaining one’s optimal weight and thus one’s total internal wellness. Our dietary philosophy is centered around “real” food choices – organic, non-processed food that is sustainable for both the individual and the environment. When food is approached this way, most “diets” become obsolete and patients understand the meaning of true health and energy.
Holistic Health Coaching
To help navigate the fundamentals of diet and nutrition and to help implement dietary and lifestyle changes, we offer our holistic health coaching program, tailored to each person’s unique needs and circumstances. Our certified holistic health coach, Nancy Erlichman, CHHC, has over 10 years of experience in health and wellness coaching. Richardson Farms with Wiseman Family Practice
At Wiseman Family Practice, we believe that the cornerstone of good health and disease prevention comes with proper food choices. We believe that an important part of primary care is educating people on true disease prevention through nutrition. Sadly, most medical professionals today receive very little teaching in nutrition during their medical training. We believe that this lack of understanding of food and health in our current medical system signifies that the system is broken and is a major reason for the increase of chronic diseases today. It is our aim at Wiseman Family Practice to fix this problem.
As a result, we have joined with Richardson Farms in Rockdale, TX to bring patients and the community healthier, environmentally safer, and more ethically raised food. In addition, we also use the farm as a platform to connect patients and their families to the world around us. The current trend of food production is very industrial and often treats animals and produce as objects, with little regard to animal and environmental welfare. By ecologically reconnecting ourselves to this larger picture, we believe that people can live healthier, more productive lives.
