Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine
Acupuncture is based on the belief that health depends on a balanced flow of Life Energy or Qi, also spelled Chi. To correct any imbalances, acupuncture points are used to correct the flow of Qi along these meridians and to redirect the flow of energy to affected areas. This is called acupuncture and has been used in the East for thousands of years. Acupuncture is one major component of Eastern Medicine in which hair-thin needles are inserted into specific points in the body.
Acupuncture points are selected based on their ability to stimulate the body’s own natural healing mechanisms through the physiological response to the insertion of the acupuncture needle. The insertion of needles into specific points can alter biochemical and physiological conditions in order to treat a wide variety of illnesses.
Acupuncture can be used to enhance immunity and to support both physical and emotional well-being. It is a safe and effective way to treat a wide range of medical conditions. Acupuncture works best when it is part of a comprehensive integrative care plan as an effort to treat the whole person and achieve the best results.
The World Health Organization recognizes almost a hundred diseases, symptoms, or conditions for which acupuncture is effective. Below are some of the conditions we treat with acupuncture; if your condition is not listed, please ask your health care professional if acupuncture may be right for you.
